Zimbabwe Projects

Due to the economic collapse in 2008, 90% unemployment in the country, over 1 million orphans, and poverty, these vulnerable children have no options or hope. Currently 50% of the population is under the age of 20! In the capital city of Harare, the numbers of orphans and street kids are overwhelming. Every week, 2-3 young people commit suicide by either eating rat poison or jumping into the flooded rock quarry to drown. Girls, as young as 9 years old, are often forced into prostitution (they earn between 10-25 cents per customer) just so they can have bread to eat at night.

We have expanded in Zimbabwe with 3 projects:
1.
The first is a Bridge School that provides the basic education for orphans, street kids and other vulnerable children who have never been to school before.

2. The second is the establishment of an ongoing Medical Outreach. With our Serve Team in March 2019, we conducted a medical clinic as an outreach at the school. As a result the authorities have granted permission for an ongoing "Industrial" medical clinic to be established at the church. We will continue to partner with the church to help make this a reality.

3. Our third project is to build Transitional Orphan Home. In partnership with Mt. Hope and their Hope for Tomorrow Trust, we are purchasing property, building a transitional home for the older orphans for when they age out of the government orphanage, and developing greenhouses which will make the project self sustainable plus provide scholarships so these young men can learn a vocational trade.
