It all started with a soccer team. These orphaned young men are part the soccer team, sponsored by Mt. Hope, which play in a church league. These young men live in a government orphanage until they are 18. However, if they do make high enough scores/grades to go on to university, then within a month they are on the streets.
We are partnering with Mt. Hope to help these guys. We started with one greenhouse and one of the young men who had "aged out" and became a street youth. This project has already changed his life and given him purpose. The purpose of the greenhouse is to start revolving scholarship fund to train these young men in vocational skills.
However, we don't want to stop there. Our goal is to purchase property (good farm land), build a transitional home for a place for these young men to live while being trained in their vocational skills, plus develop more greenhouses, a chicken farm, a piggery, and a workshop (for carpentry and welding).
Will you help us purchase the property and get started on this home for these young men? This home will keep them off the streets of Harare and away from a life of crime. Without a place to live and without training for job skills, many young men turn to a life of crime in order to survive. This project will provide them with hope, an opportunity for growth, and give them a purpose.
