We have partnered with Church of All Nations in Overspill, Epworth (a suburb outside of the capital city of Harare). This church is led by Pastor Chinyama, a man with a huge heart for the orphans. Already he is doing something about it.
Step One ~ Pastor Chinyama has started a bridge school for these children, ages 7-15. This gives them the basics of their education (learning how to read and write) so they can later transition into a regular school. Without an education, they have no hope for a job as an adult. We have built the school building which the 2019 Serve Team helped construct. These classrooms are now finished with the plastering, finish floor installed, and windows, doors and security bars in place. Now we are working on having the desks built plus working to purchase chairs, chalkboards, bulletin boards, supply closets, cubby holes for student backpacks, and bookcases with books in each room. This is completed!
Step Two ~ Make the Bridge School totally self-sustainable, provide safe playground equipment, and complete the kitchen with appliances and supplies for daily meals to be prepared for the children. We also need to purchase and remodel a 20 ft. shipping container to become an onsite mini medical clinic. Many of these children do not even get one consistent meal a day. Our goal is to provide a daily nutritious lunch. Goal $20,000. Will you help make this a reality? COMPLETED JANUARY 2022!
Step Three ~Developing a vocational training, Anchors of Hope, for the older teen girls. For those who are not able to attend high school due to the high school fees (no free education here), they need to learn a vocational trade otherwise most are forced into prostitution and sex trafficking. This training facility will provide them with skills and training in such areas as tailoring, baking and even nurses aids. For those who have finished high school, many of them still need skills training due to the high unemployment in the formal sector. COMPLETED JUNE 2022!
Step Four ~ Current Project - Remodel a 20' shipping container into a two-roomed mini-medical clinic. This will be an outreach in a very deprived community providing basic medical care and a baby weighing facility. Container has been purchased and remodeled. Only $1000 needed to fully complete this project. These funds are needed to paint the interior and exterior, add steps, and install tile flooring. Will You Consider Helping Us Finish This Project?
